Drew, Cam, Doni, Annie, Ramsay, and Jeff went on the trip.  We met outside Baird-McClintock, and, after two false starts involving a forgotten credit card and a readjustment of the crash pads which had been haphazardly strapped to the roof, we finally got going.  It was an excruciatingly long drive, but we had plenty of CDs to pass the time.  We made a pit stop at Duncan's house in Andover, Massachusetts for some ice cream, and arrived at our campground somewhat after 2:00 AM.  It was quite cold and windy, but we were well prepared for the weather and slept well.

We got up fairly late and got climbing the next day at around 10.  We went to the Parking Lot Wall, which was close by, had a large range of many different types of routes, and was warm and sunnyUnfortunately, there were about 900 people already there... We led and toproped three climbs, called Egg McMeadows, Rise and Shine, and Chloe's Breakfast Special, which were rated 5.9, 5.7, and 5.8, respectively.  Our novice climbers, Jeff and Annie, made some heroic efforts on these climbs, in many cases making it all the way to the top.  Then some Russian students from MIT were kind enough to let Drew try out a climb called Espresso, 5.10d on their top rope.  It was hard, but very cool...he managed to get to the top after 2 falls and some hanging.  After that, we packed up and headed to the 5.8 crag.  Drew led a "classic" climb called Romancing the Stone (5.10c) which the others then toproped, with mixed results.  Finally, Drew tried to lead a climb called Milktoast, 5.10d and failed spectacularly.  Luckily, we managed to recover all the gear.  By this time, it was dark, and we celebrated the good day of climbing by going out for some delicious pizza.

Sunday, when we got up, it was somewhat cold and grey, and sprinkling a little.  Since none of us were feeling particularly strong, we set out to hike a mountain called Little Haystack Mountain.  At the bottom, while we were moving quickly, it was quite warm, but as we got higher up it got colder and before long, we were walking through snow.  Cam, luckily for the rest of us, was very prepared and lent out pieces of cold weather gear left and right, in addition to carrying all of our extra layers in his pack when we were too warm.  Finally, we got above the treeline onto the ridge, where it was very cold and somewhat windy.  We didn't stay for long, and made our way back down the mountain pretty quickly.  All told, the hike was something over four hours.  When we got back, we cooked pasta and made friends with some of the other climbers.

Monday, Cam, Doni and Drew woke up around 7 to go off in search of the perfect crag, while Jeff, Ramsay, and Annie caught up on some sleep.  Three hours later, we had still not found the crag we were looking for, so we gave up and returned to the 5.8 crag to give Romancing the Stone another go.  Jeff, Annie and Ramsay met us there, and we led a number of other climbs (The Terrace, Snakeskin Slab, and Bolt and Run, 5.8, 5.7, and 5.9, respectively) for people to play around on.  Cam and Doni both conquered Romancing the Stone, and then Drew climbed up to clean the quickdraws from the anchors.  Then we all headed to the Pound for a little sick bouldering before we left.  We were, unfortunately, in a little bit of a rush, but Cam, Doni and Drew all sent a cool problem involving a gnarly sidepull in a crack, and then proceeded to fool around for a while on other cool boulders.  After that, we all went to Doni's house; we arrived at midnight, but her dad had cooked a delicious vegetarian dinner for us, after which we went to bed.

Tuesday, we all slept in a little bit, and then made some strawberry pancakes.  The last thing we did before we left for Dickinson was to visit some alpacas, one of which was a baby.  We got back to Dickinson in the midafternoon, giving everyone ample time to unpack and maybe do a little studying.  All in all, another excellent trip.

Afterwards...

We went to the Parking Lot Wall, which was close by, had a large range of many different types of routes, and was warm and sunny. Unfortunately, there were about 900 people already there...
