| Amy began dancing at a young age, taking classes in ballet and jazz from [http://www.hsod.com/ Hawthorne School of Dance]. She then dabbled in lyrical ballet and finally fell in love with Irish step dancing under the instruction of Erin and Meg Cumascaigh. When her teachers moved away, however, she relocated to the Ardmore Academy of Irish Dance. Dissatisfied with Ardmore and the other schools in the area, Amy and some friends took on the responsibility of forming their own dance group, The Rocks and Reels. This group choreographed their own dances, ran their own rehearsals, and performed at a myriad of events including charity functions, nursing homes, and church meetings. The group disbanded when its members began to leave for college.
