Labor Defender: Working for Workers Rights

Labor Defender was a monthly newsmagazine published by the International Labor Defense (ILD) in the late 1920s and 1930s. The ILD was a Communist led organization dedicated to providing legal assistance to strikers and imprisoned workers. The newsmagazine was dedicated to covering strikes and other working class issues. The Labor Defender contained articles on the National Textile Workers’ Union, textile strikes in New Bedford, Massachusetts, an interview with Clara Zetkin, a pioneer of International Women’s Rights Day, and short stories and essays on the working class (Labor Arts).
