Dickinson en France goes back to school The 2009-2010 school year has begun and the students are making their first steps in the Pink City! It’s up to you to share your experience, your reflections and your favorite city spots to make La Une a useful resource for your classmates in Toulouse, in Carlisle and throughout the word. The Capitol of Toulouse, built in the nineteenth century by the Capitouls (Toulouse’s elite legislative body), is the heart of the “centre-ville.” Today it serves as city hall. The building also houses the Théâtre du Capitole.

Ways to dive into your year in Toulouse Need inspiration? Here are some ideas of things to do for your first weekends in Toulouse. Ask if your host family wants to come along, go with your classmates, or head out alone to discover the city! Go see a film at Utopia, followed by ice cream at Ô Sorbet d’Amour (rue Montardy). Discover the flea market on Allées Jules Guesde (the first weekend of each month) or around the Basilica of Saint Sernin (every weekend) Go to the festival « La Garonne expose », a free exhibition along the banks of the Garonne, every weekend in September. Take a bike ride along the Canal du Midi. Visit a museum—many are free the first Sunday of each month. (Don’t forget that your student ID card often gives you free or reduced-price access to museums and monuments.)
