Mission Statement
DreamCatchers provides an environment that promotes emotional, social and educational success to immigrant students with the guidance of Dickinson College mentors. DreamCatchers serves mostly Middle Eastern and Eastern European middle school students in the Carlisle School District. While the mentors strive to support each student, the students are often the teachers, reminding the mentors how innocent young people can and should be. Highly committed mentors work with students who have great potential, lots of energy and a desire to succeeed. This mission statment can be found here.
Events
Weekly to Bi-weekly Dickinson student metors meet with mentees to work on homework as well as social and other issues. The organization then meets a few times per semester to have an outing as a group.
Problems
Scheduling is frequently a problem between mentors and mentees. Communication with the families is often difficult as it is up to the mentors and mentees to determine a time and place to meet.
