This is a picture taken in Georgetown. i really like the angle and the distortion of the space. it looks as though the building is curving on it's own. | |||

This is a picture of my legs. I like the strange colors the glass caused in the stone to my left. And also the glow of the lights that was present without a flash. ~Lori

This is a picture of my friend Megan. I think the vantage point is particularly interesting because I'm above her at an angle looking down. I experimented a lot with contrast in this picture and I found that greater contrast accentuated her freckles and eyelashes. I also desaturated and darkened the picture, as well as heightened the shadows.

Bench in Paris
This is a picture of my brother and sister in law on a bench. At the time it was just a nice picture, but looking back on it i find entirely different emotions and responses than I did at the time. Now looking at the picture, after a month, i feel i captured something more evident than just a kiss, without using photo shop (though i will experiment later). The cars going by in the background make the kiss pop out even more and show how i captured a moment in time that will pass bye. The placement of her hand is crucial, in that it shows how they must stop even themselves for a moment; to sit, to smile, to kiss.
Two Hats
I was just playing around with the camera and two hats sitting our kitchen table. I like the shadows coming towards the viewer, and the angles created by the position of the hats. I adjusted the picture in various manners, but none of them drastically. I warmed the image using the warming layer, I softened the image using the Gaussian filter, sharpened only the edges, and also darkened the yellows in the image to soften the glow of the table. I also like that most of the red hat is in focus, but only one strip of the plaid shows up perfectly clear. ~Lori
This was a sign post w/orange hunting tape that I found. I really liked how clear the tape came out, and the fuzzy nature of the background. I changed the levels of the picture to make it seem to be a brighter day. I also changed the tape color to seem more red, because red and green are opposite on the color wheel. ~Lori
This is a leaf underwater in a stream just outside of Carlisle. I was intrigued by the air bubbles trapped on the leaf, even though I would have epxected them to pop. I also enjoyed the way there is a flicker of light on the waters surface as well making it difficult to discern the space involved. I cut out the background to leave the photo up to the viewers imagination. There are also some nice triangles and angles created by the viens on the leaf, I tried to heighten this affect. ~ Lori
This is a photo I took for change, I was trying to experiment with the change from new to old. This is obviously an old photo. I really like the blue of the sky, and the fact that i used a wide angle lens. It distorted the the scenery very slightly. I also thought the scenery was beautiful! I wasn't sure whether/where I should crop the image. Any ideas? ~ Lori
This photo is a very simple. It was for the assignment opposites. We all learned early on that red and green are complementary colors (opposites on the color wheel). I really like that the color in this photo gives the feeling that the flower is real when it is actually a silk flower I took a picture of in a cemetary. ~ Laura
This is a picture from home that I had. It was busier picture, but I brought down the brighness inside the window, and all that was left was the cat. I thought this made it look more mysterious as the cat "Mercury" was hunting. ~Tom
This was a picture I had shown in class, although I have changed it since then. I took the advice of the class to crop it differently so there were not as many distractions around the subject matter. I think it turned out to be more successful this way and I am glad I took everyones advice. ~ Laura
This is a seemingly unreal picture that I just thought was cool. I merged a few pictures together of the academic quads. Then took a picture of the Dickinson bull at a few different angles and played with the hue/saturation. I then inserted them in different layers and tried to make them like students walking to and from class. ~Tom
This is also a continuation of my "change" project. This picture represents "new". Not only is the color in the photo more vibrant than the previous photo, there is also an attention to the orientation of the gutter on the wall and the decorative nature of the shutter. I was also interested in the angle and the lines created by these components.
I am also throwing up the first composite picture our group made, in case anyone wants to see it.

I'm actually posting two pictures today, because I missed last week due to fall pause. Both were taking "exploring" the art part of Goodyear. This first one is a reflection of myself on the red glass. I didn't alter the picture in any way at this point. I enjoy how my reflection dwarfs me in comparison to the ordinary chair next to me.
The second is a photo I took looking into the dark closet. I enjoyed the sinister feeling the light creeping in gave. I also liked the lines created by the beams, and the pipes on the wall. For that reason I just focused on the light, the triangles it created and the lines present in the original image.
