EDUCATION
Amy began her education at the age of four, attending the North Haledon Co-Operative Nursery School. From there, she advanced to Roosevelt Elementary School and thereafter to Lincoln Middle School. Finally, she completed her high school years at Hawthorne High School and now attends Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where she plans to major in either psychology or sociology.
FAMILY
Amy's immediate family consists of her mother, father, and brother. Her mom, Robin, is a preschool teacher at theNorth Haledon Co-Operative Nursery School and loves to cook, sew, and garden. She also has a particular affinity for Aretha Franklin's well-known hit, "Respect." Amy's father, Jim, is a sales representative for Shotmeyer Brothers' Oil Company who truly appreciates puns and ridiculous jokes. Her brother, Daniel, is a junior at Nyack College and Seminary majoring in music education. As the sole member of his project entitled "Thirteen by Thirteen," he is truly gifted at writing his own songs and lyrics, as well as playing piano, guitar, and drums. After going on tour across the country for the month of June, Daniel is now the booking manager for Holy Grounds Coffee Lounge.
RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES
As a young child, Amy attended First Reformed Church in Hawthorne, New Jersey with her parents, brother, and grandfather. She attended Sunday School and dutifully played the part of a sheep in many a Christmas pageant.
However, because there were so few young families there, the Rose family moved to Grace Bible Church in North Haledon when Amy was six years old. There, she became active in the church choir, played clarinet during the services, organized crafts for Children's Church, and sang solos.
At the same time, she became active in the youth group from St. Anthony's Church in Hawthorne, New Jersey. During her sophomore year she became a TEAM Leader and frequently did talks and organized meetings. With this youth group, she went on three missions trips with Catholic Heart Work Camp to Mobile, Alabama; Rockford, Illinois; and Prince Frederick, Maryland. During these missions trips, the St. Anthony's group scraped, sanded, primed, painted, rebuilt, spackled, nailed, and fixed run-down homes for the less fortunate.
DANCE EXPERIENCE
Amy began dancing at a young age, taking classes in ballet and jazz from Hawthorne School of Dance. She then dabbled in lyrical ballet and finally fell in love with Irish step dancing under the instruction of Erin and Meg Cumascaigh. When her teachers moved away, however, she relocated to the Ardmore Academy of Irish Dance. Dissatisfied with Ardmore and the other schools in the area, Amy and some friends took on the responsibility of forming their own dance group, The Rocks and Reels. The group disbanded when its members began to leave for college.
