Spring Break 2008
This is a discussion and information page for the club's 2008 spring break trip to the southwest. Please periodically check it for info and update as necessary.
Location:
Nevada and Utah.
We'll be going to Red Rocks and Zion in Southern Nevada and Utah, respectively. There's a possibility we might be going to Bryce Canyon, but that's more or less up to us on the trip.
Activities:
Climbing, Hiking, Backpacking, Camping, Adventuring
Both of these great destinations offer tons to do. We plan on doing maybe a day or so of climbing in Red Rocks then some walking/hiking around seeing what there is to see. Once in Zion we'll most likely set up camp do some hiking, backpacking, and adventuring. We definitely plan on doing the Angel's Landing hike (more info in the links below).
Besides all that this is a real life DCOC adventure. Plan to get lost, get found...get psyched.
Itinerary:
Dates and stuff
We'll be leaving for the airport on Saturday afternoon, March 8th. Dan and Pam will be driving to BWI (that's Baltimore) on Saturday, leaving at around 2-3ish for a 6:35pm takeoff (Delta Air Lines 6747 arriving at 8:19pm MN time) to our connecting flight (Delta Air Lines 6658) in Minneapolis which leaves at 9:35pm and arrives in LAS (Las Vegas) at 11:03pm (Vegas time).
From there we'll rent a car and drive out to Red Rocks and set down camp for the night. We'll most likely spend 2-3 days at Red Rocks then it's off to Zion National Park, then possibly Bryce Canyon.
Either way we'll be heading back to Vegas on Saturday March 15th for a wonderful 11:32pm flight (US Airways 278) arriving in BWI (Baltimore if you haven't caught on yet) at 7:04am Sunday, March 16th.
Supplies You Need to Bring:
The club has most of the things you need (ie. tents [which we may not even bring], packs, pads, sleeping bags, etc.) but you'll need to bring warm weather clothing, rain gear, water receptacle (dromedary, nalgenes [make sure you've ONLY used water in them], etc.), some cold weather gear (nights get chilly), and if you have a good sleeping bag...bring it, the club bags are...limited.
