“Utopianism” provides a complete overview of the concept of utopia from the perspective of one author.  The book first treats some basic foundations of utopianism, and then offers a brief but thorough history of the concept.  The remainder of the book is dedicated to studying attempts to apply utopianism throughout history, both general and specific.  The author studies not only utopianism’s limitations, but also its possibilities, and claims that the theory is far from obsolete.  He attempts to establish utopianism’s credibility by discussing its close connections to mainstream thought, as it seeks to answer the same questions as many other (more universally accepted) philosophies.  This book provides a thorough treatment of utopianism from the perspective of a sympathetic party.
