The idea to leave a small pot with a poem and my email address came from my perpetual urge to leave something behind, as a message to the great “anyone”. Like Kilgore, the pots have a quirky appeal, but they probably appear a little more serious, with the rolled scroll of Kabir’s “The Pottery Jug” inside. Perhaps not many people will take the pot, thinking it is a prayer left in silent appeal. But I like that ambiguity, and the gesture of possibility. So far, there has been one response: “Good Morning, Taboch gow”, from Belgium. Surprisingly, while I tried to remain nonchalant about the project, I found that it gave my days in Mexico a particular focus of appreciation and wonder.
