Programs won't open
There is a registry file that needs to be imported.
It's in the Fix CD in \Utils\exe File Association Regedit
Then you need to do a few things:
1. Browse to c:\windows\
2. Set View Options to Show Hidden Files and Show File Extensions
3. Change regedit.exe to regedit.com
4. Copy the xp_exe_fix.reg registry file from the Fix CD \Utils\exe File Association Regedit folder to the Desktop (just to be safe)
5. Double-click on xp_exe_fix.reg file.
6. You might see a window asking you to choose the program with which to open this file. Click on Select the program from a list and another window will open. Click on the Browse button and navigate to c:\windows\regedit.com, select it, and click on OK.
7. "Registry Editor" will show up on the list of Programs to use. Do that thing, and import that reg file into the user's registry.
8. Programs should now open properly.
2 Caveats:
- I'm writing this stuff off the top of my head, having only had to do this 2-3 times in the past 5 years, and even though I just did this again a few minutes ago, I may have gotten some verbiage wrong.
- I have a bad headache and am so not in the mood to be writing documentation right now, but Bachmann made me do it. :-P
