Overview

The graph below illustrates an interesting pattern in the evolution of Ireland's population. It is evident that population growth experienced a steep incline during the middle of the 1700's and peaked in the 1840's. But then, this unprecidented growth took a dramatic downturn in the mid nineteenth century and essentially reversed the rates of population achieved in the prior century.
