On September 23, 2000, the town of Carlisle and Dickinson College came together to celebrate diversity and show the community's united front against hate crimes. Held at Biddle Field, the Unity Celebration included a variety of speakers and activities for people of all ages. Stores in downtown Carlisle demonstrated their support by giving out purple ribbons to customers, donating goods and services, and closing early on the day of the event to show solidarity.

The Amani Festival is a yearly street fair celebrating cultures and ethnicities found around the globe. This all day event is held rain or shine in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. There are street performers, vendors selling crafts, clothing, and books, as well as food stands serving Thai, German, Chinese, Greek, and American cuisine. (http://www.amanicarlisle.com/faq.htm)
