Description

Mission Statement

To make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among members of the Dickinson College campus and community. To aid in the election of the Republican candidates at all levels of government. To encourage and assist in the organization and active functioning of the Republican Party at local, state and national levels. To develop political skills and leadership abilities among Republican students for future service by them to the Republican Party and community.


Events

The College Republicans volunteer at events with Republican Congressmen, meet with various politicians that visit the Harrisburg area, and they actively campaigned for George W. Bush in the 2004 Presidential Campaign. The group also worked with the Dickinson College Democrats in sponsoring a voter registration drive.

Effectiveness

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the most effective, the group's Vice President gave the club an effectiveness rating of 2.

Problems/Dilemmas

One of the biggest problems that the College Republicans face is dealing with the constant criticism since "conservatism is always a target of suspician in academia". When criticism "comes to head", the group holds events.
