Community Issues

Besides its primary goal of taking a stance against oppressive employers and serving as a means to gain justice for workers through actively fighting for better conditions and wages upon other things in the workplace, the UAW is committed to actively taking a role in social action for the betterment of life for all workers in the United States. In the words of UAW president, Gettelfinger, “These are difficult times for America’s working families and tough times for America’s unions, including the UAW. We must do more than honor our past; we must forge our future by joining together to get America back on the right road. In the UAW, we call it the high road.” These are some of the issues that the UAW is dedicated to working on to help this country back toward this “high road”.
