OutingClub:MeetingMinutes:September 11, 2006
Hey OC members! Hope your week is going well. We just wanted to send out minutes from Monday nights meeting, in case you weren't able to attend or need some of the information.
To start this off, if you ever have a question or comment or need to get in touch with one of the officers and you don't know our e-mail address, you can e-mail outing@dickinson.edu, do not just hit reply on an e-mail because it will be sent to ALL outing club members.
Ok, so now that that is out of the way, we had a meeting Monday night where we discussed a couple different things.
The report from last weekends beginner climbing trip and camping was good. Other then the wet weather, the group enjoyed climbing on Saturday and hiking around Gifford Pinchot Lake on Sunday.
This weekend is the Susquehanna River Cleanup with the Sierra Club. A couple OC members did display interest in helping the Sierra Club and leading the trip, so if you'd be interested in joining them, e-mail the outing club and we can give you more information on which member to contact!
On the weekend of September 22-23, there will be a trip to the New River Gorge in West Virgina. This is an advanced climbing trip so you must be comfortable with climbing outside and you must be able to take care of yourself. Details (where to meet, what you need to bring, gear) will be discussed at the next meeting if you are interested in going on the trip.
ALL members (even returning members from last year) MUST sign a new waiver form if you intend on going on any trips. Rec Sports changed the policy and every member must sign a waiver, every year.
Reminder, anyone interested in going to EarthTreks in Maryland this coming Friday (2 days from now) needs to get in touch with Sunshine. Earthtreks is about an hour and 10 minutes away. The cost to climb is $13 with a student ID (you must also bring your class schedule to prove you are a full time student). Sunshine would like to leave around 12 or 1 with the hopes of being back on campus before dinner. If you're interested or have any questions e-mail Sunshine or the club.
So that's pretty much everything we discussed if you weren't able to attend the meeting. Don't forget weekly meetings are held every Monday night at 7:30 in Tome 103.
