Dance Clubs
In the summer months, there are many "open-air" discos to be found around the city. However, during the school year, one can still find many dance clubs both inside and outside the city center. Here are a few of the cities best:
Matis is situated on the outskirts of Bologna in the direction of Modena and has become one of the trendiest discos in the city over the last few years. In summer, the super-fashionable fill the large dance floor, the two side structures and the raised stage behind the console. Open 9pm-4am Wednesday-Saturday.
The Sottotetto Sound Club has music varying from ska to reggae, from pop to jazz, and from the blues to funky music. Every evening has a different theme here. One Mondays it is indie, hard rock, and punk evening; on Thursdays there is the "Ta To Bum Bum room" with funky background music and 80's disco; Fridays are juke box evenings, ranging from Aerosmith to Yes; and Saturday is "Live Tattoo" evening when a small tatto workshop takes place. There is lots of good beer available here as well as snacks, and satellite TV. Open 8pm-3am everyday.
Soda Pops is a pub/nightclub which is located under an old building and is always very crowded (it seems like it is Summer all 12 months of the year inside!). The nightowls who are regulars in this place prefer the hot and cheap (although small) enviroment of "Soda Pops" to going to a normal nightclub. Entrance is free and it is not obbligatory to buy anything. Open 9pm-4am Tuesday-Sunday.
