Updating Probability Charts
Basic Strategy is complemented by the +/- count method. The problem however, is that Basic Strategy is dependent on the probabilities of a given outcome based on the cards on the table. The chart is constructed based on a neutral count. Once the count become significantly greater than or less than 0, the recommended actions change. The updated charts found below are the core of what I call Intermediate Strategy. An advanced strategy would involve more complicated methods of counting and would require entirely too much time and energy for a project of this scale. Recall the rules of the +/- count:
Assign a value of +1 to cards reading 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Assign a value of 0 to cards reading 7, 8, and 9.
Assign a value of -1 to cards reading 10, J, Q, K, A.
Divide this number by the number of decks in play to discover the "true count"
For a count of +4, the following chart represents the player's best response. Highlighted entries represent changes from the original chart.
KEY
H: Hit
S: Stand
D: Double Down if permitted, otherwise hit
P: Split
B: Blackjack
H/P: Split, if permitted to double down after splitting; otherwise hit
H/Q: Surrender if permitted; otherwise hit
D/S: Double Down if permitted, otherwise stand
For a count of -4, the following chart represents the player's best response. Highlighted entries represent changes from the original chart.
