SpeakOut is a group that promotes, through dialouge, the end of sexual violence and the tolerance of all people. They also provide rape education courses for men and women.

Their goals include:

  • to create and foster a communication network between campus programs and campus activists, both dealing with sexual violence, nationwide.
  • to work collaboratively with antiviolence efforts.
  • to create a national consciousness of the campus anti-sexual-violence movement.
  • to address cultural, racial, economic and religious factors affecting sexual violence.
  • to affect campus, local, state and national policies regarding survivor's rights.
  • to affect campus, local, state and national policies regarding the adjudiciation proceedings and perpetrator sanctions and treatment.
  • to challenge cultural norms and social constructs contributing to a sexually violent culture
  • to provide a forum for the exchange, evaluation and development of exemplary models for education and prevention
  • to recognize and build credibility of peer-to-peer education and to promote its implementation
  • to foster leadership development and organizing skills of campus activists.


Their objectives include:

  • to insure the continuity of the North Amarican Student Conferences on Sexual Violence.
  • to create an electronic communication network.
  • to establish and maintain a national database.
  • to work with other organizations and task forces relating to sexual violence issues.
  • to document the work of activists in the movement.
  • to publish a newsletter to be distributed to all members.
  • to promote the student anti-sexual-violence movement and the credibility of peer-to-peer education by presenting at professional conferences.
  • to consult with national organizations and media in efforts to promote the accomplishment of the national anti-sexual-violence movement.
