Houston Janitors
From Dickinson College Wiki
In Houston, over 5000 workers have organized and joined the SEIU through the efforts of Janitors for Justice. Amazingly, this occurs in an era where the involvment in unions for the nation stands at 7.9 partcipation rate. According to the New York Times, these migrant workers only earned approximately 100 dollars a week, not including health insurance or any other benefits. According to SEIU, this is the lowest wages paid to any group of janitors in any city across the nation.[1]
