Not many people in Singapore love to be in the army. It meant losing the abundant comforts a Singaporean youth is used to. It was being part of an organization that was the butt of some jokes. Also, it took away 2 years of service from you.
Serving in the army is time for one to use, and not waste away by doing nothing. I am glad to state here that I have made close friends during my time in the army. Even though we come and leave units at different times and our backgrounds are so diverse, it did not stop us from being great friends.
