<The Oxford History of the French Revolution> is a monograph written by William Doyle. As the sole author, Doyle covers a large amount of information in oone volume. The book starts off by setting up the events that occur in the years leading up to the actual revolution, both in France and in surrounding Europe. Then the Revolution is explored in depth, followed by descriptions of the Counter Revolution and the years of recovery. Concluding the written portion of the book is a "Revolution in Perspective" chapter which opens with descriptions of a traveler's experience in France and their views of the post-revolution society. It continues with an overview of the events and their nature and causes. The last chapter is very helpful in summarizing the contents of a lengthy book in a comparatively short chapter. Overall, the monograph written by William Doyle is very informative and contains in depth information on many aspects of the French Revolution in a straightforward manner.
