The YWCA of Carlisle is located at 301 G Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. The Carlisle YWCA , incorporated in 1919, has a long history of advocating for women and girls, and started clubs for African American girls in the 1930's. In 2005, YWCA Carlisle provided services to over 19,000 men, women and children. Even though its programs and services have changed, the YWCA's heart and soul have not. The YWCA's mission statement is: "Empowering Women, Eliminating Racism." (YWCA) |

The Week Without Violence, occurring in late October, targets children as well as parents. Youth Leadership Conference:
In May 2005, the Carlisle community came together to share ideas about implementing initiatives to eliminate racism. After hearing Mary, a defector from a Neo Nazi skinhead group, speak about how hate groups find alienated youth because they are easy prey, the YWCA decided to focus on youth. As part of the YWCA's Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) last fall, students from area high schools were asked to commit to reach out to at least one alienated fellow student during this school year.
