P2P Blocks

We didn’t block them, nor can we unblock them. They will have received an email message about it. We also receive notification.

Finding P2P blocks

When a student comes in and says “I can’t connect to the internet, but I was able to a few days ago” you should check to see whether that student is blocked or not:

1. Open RSA email in Thunderbird 2. Click on the “Blocks” folder in the folder list to the left. 3. In the search field in the upper right, make sure you select “Entire Message” 4. Type the last name of the user in the box 5. If a message comes up, read it and make sure that the usernames match.

If the student is blocked, s/he should: 1. remove the P2P software (safest bet) 2. contact the Help Desk to inform them that it is gone

There is not much the RSA can do in this scenario, but we CAN help the student look for and identify P2P programs on his/her system and help remove them.
