The Week Without Violence, occurring in late October, targets children as well as parents. The YWCA works with local businesses and other community non-profit organizations to get out the message of a peaceful community.

Children's Peace festival

The YWCA and other community nonprofit organizations host this festival that encourages children to trade in their "violent toys," like water guns or figurines that punch or shoot, for a book. Children can also sign a "nonviolence pledge" and receive a free book. The festival is aimed at children in preschool through fifth grade.
